Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, founded in 1971, is a public university seated in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. Accomodating almost 14,000 students, it ranks among the largest universities of applied sciences throughout Germany. Prospective students can choose between more than 30 Bachelor degree programs as well as more than 20 Master degree programs in the following eight faculties: the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Design, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Applied Social Studies, the Faculty of Business Studies, and the Faculty of Information Technology. Offered as dual-mode studies are the study programs “Software and System Engineering“, “Social Work“ (with emphasis on poverty and (refugee) migration), and “Insurance Business Studies“. The scope of extra-occupational studies comprises the part-time study programs “Architecture“, “Resource Architecture“, “Youth in Theory and Practice of Social Work“, and the combined study programs “Business Computer Science“, “Mechanical Engineering“, “International Project Engineering“, and “Business Administration for New Public Management“. To study the programs “Architecture“, “Photograph“, “Communication Design“, “Object and Space Design“, “Film & Sound“, “Orthopaedics Engineering“, “Scenographic Design and Communication“, as well as “Photographic Studies“, an additional prerequisite besides meeting the formal requirements is the completion of an aptitude test.
