Description
The multidisciplinary program “Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering”, offered by École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in French, provides individuals with an understanding of what matter is made of, from atoms to complex conformations of proteins. Students are introduced to a range of theoretical and experimental tools allowing them to reveal the secrets of natural processes. Their knowledge is hence used to recreate and modify existing molecules, and invent and produce artificial systems. They are taught to model the spatial configurations and temporal scale molecular systems. The course structure combines research with laboratory work which demonstrates how base molecules react with each other. Students can also develop catalytic processes for carrying out selective reactions. The emphasis is put on solid training in Molecular Chemistry and Biology. Studies include physical chemistry, coordination chemistry, and analytic methods. The final year offers elective modules which give students an opportunity to broaden their knowledge. Graduates can pursue a career in academic or industrial research, green chemistry or the functionalization of matter.
