The French-language study program “Bachelor of Science in Communication Systems” at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is designed to provide individuals with profound knowledge of electronics and skills needed to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the flow of information. The course structure teaches students how to develop communication systems allowing data to be compressed or find effective ways to protect data from various risks and attacks. In order to be able to deal with the latter and prevent attempts of hacking, it is necessary to acquire an understanding of the constantly evolving field of Cryptology. The course of studies also covers communication protocol development and the crucial role it plays in data exchange management and minimization of energy needed for system operations. Students receive a thorough grounding in Mathematics, Computer Science and Information Science and are involved in practical project work. Furthermore, they familiarize themselves with network security, signal processing, circuits and systems, and stochastic models for communication. Graduates can find occupational success in financial or telecommunications sectors or set up their own organization.
