The English-language study program “Master of Science in Data Science” at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is directed towards those who have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a recognized university and have graduated with excellent grades. The program is offered by the School of Computer and Communication Sciences in collaboration with the School of Basic Sciences and the School of Engineering. Students learn more about the IT revolution which enables generating, collecting, storing and processing data at incredibly higher rates. Studies cover a wide range of aspects of data analysis, including foundations, implementation, algorithms, database architecture, as well as information theory and machine learning. The program encompasses analysis of large, noisy, and often diversified data. Moreover, it also includes a mandatory, eight- to six-month internship which could be combined with the Master’s thesis. Graduates may find jobs as data analysts, data scientists, analytics programmers, analytics managers as well as analytics consultants, business analysts, or management advisors.
