The Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences Mannheim, founded in 1979 and sponsored by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, is a public university seated in Mannheim, North Rhine-Westphalia. In its capacity of being a public administration institution, it prepares more than 6,000 students for the higher non-technical administrative service. The University offers study programs at Bachelor’s, Diploma, and Master’s level. The scope of Bachelor studies includes the degree courses “Criminal Law Enforcement“ (B.A.), and “Social Insurance Law“ (LL.B.). The scope of Diploma studies includes the study programs “Diplomatic Service“, “Federal Intelligence Service“, “Federal Police Service“, “Federal Intelligence Agency“, “Administrative Services of Social Security for Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture“, Administrative Services in Federal Administration“, “Administrative Computer Science“, “Administrative Management“, “Meteorological Service/Geophysical Consulting Service of the Federal Army“, and “Customs Services“. The extra-occupational continuing education distance learning program “Master of Public Administration“ is the only program that does not prepare students for higher non-technical administrative services. Study programs offered at the Federal University of Applied Administrative Sciences Mannheim are carried out at several departmental branches. Basic studies, which cover a period of six months, are taught at the so-called Central Branch, which is located in Brühl, provided that they do not fall into the area of responsibility of one of the departmental branches. The responsibility of the departmental branches is to carry out the main studies phase. In total, there are ten departmental branches, namely: Departmental Branch of General Internal Administration (Brühl), Departmental Branch of Foreign Affairs Administration (Berlin), Departmental Branch of the Federal Police (Lübeck), Departmental Branch of Federal Defence Administration (Mannheim), Departmental Branch of Financial Administration (Münster), Departmental Branch of the Federal Criminal Police (Wiesbaden), Departmental Branch of Agricultural Social Security Administration“ (Kassel), Departmental Branch of the Intelligence Services (München/Brühl), Departmental Branch of Social Security Administration (Berlin/Bochum), and Departmental Branch of the Meteorological Service (Langen/Fürstenfeldbruck).
