The study program “Master of Education in Primary School Teaching” offered by Heidelberg University of Education has the purpose of providing students with the needed qualification, in order to be eligible to educate and train 5-12-year-old children. Students will gain comprehensive knowledge in the educational sciences. They will develop scientifically valid and research-oriented mindset and will be able to deal with the challenges relating to educational inclusion needs. A requirement for enrolment in the program is finished bachelor`s related to teaching, with two specialised subjects that are being continued through the Master`s program. The first subject can be either German or mathematics. Available second subjects to choose from are art, music, protestant theology, social science, sports science, etc. The curriculum is divided into two main parts – the course of study that lasts two semesters and then preparatory service which is needed, in able to be eligible to teach at primary schools.
