The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Assyriology” provided at Heidelberg University is a course dedicated to deeply understand the Ancient Near Eastern Philology. Students are introduced to the advanced civilizations, their languages, history, religion, science, literature, economy, society, and law of the ancient Near East. The duration of the study is six semesters in full-time format. When completed, graduates can seek a career in universities or research institutes in Germany or abroad, in museums, in libraries, in publishing, in the diplomatic service, with the press, radio, television, and with companies for study trips and more. Included in the program are subjects like Languages and Cultures of the Near East, Sumerology, Antient Linguistics, Cultural studies, History, Development and Fall of the Ancient Near East cultures, Ancient stone tablet texts and more.
