The “Master of Arts in Communication, Literature and Media in Modern South Asian Languages” program at Heidelberg University is four semesters long and conducted in German and English. The course examines the various languages, literature and media discourses of the Indian subcontinent, including texts, manuscripts, films, internet and audio sources. The training offers the study of the following languages: Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Tamil, and students must be fluent in one of these languages. During the course, students study two languages and deepen their knowledge of literary and media genres in their chosen language. The training includes literature seminars, and students can attend various courses and lectures in other departments.  Graduates can pursue a career in a further scientific qualification, archiving, librarianship, international communication, diversity, management, public relations, and other career prospects.
