The program “Bachelor of Arts in Comparative German Studies” at Heidelberg University concentrates on the comparative and intercultural study of the German language, literature and culture. The duration of the major subject course (50%) has a length of six semesters. The training offers two specializations, Didactics of German as a Second Language and Intercultural Communication, from which students can choose. Students develop transdisciplinary dialogue competence, problem-solving skills, as well as personal and social abilities. Depending on the specialization they have chosen, graduates can start working in the field of German as a foreign language, in cultural, economic or political institutions in Germany.
