The consecutive program “Master of Arts in Development, Environment, Societies, and History in South Asia” at Heidelberg University is a study concentrated on the historical, societal and current political and economic processes and developments, as well as the physio-geographical processes in the countries of Southeast Asia. The program has a continuation of four semesters and is taught entirely in English. Students have the opportunity to study a South Asian language or increase their knowledge of such a language. They can choose their specialization and examination module, thus determining the focus of their studies. At the end of the program, students understand and analyze historical processes in their ecological, socioeconomic, historical, political, and environmental contexts.
