The “Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies” course at Heidelberg University is dedicated to the cultural exploration of East Asian societies by including their historical development, contemporary manifestations, and regional interconnections. The program consists of a core component and a supplementary one. The minor-25% is six semesters long and taught in German, and partially English, Japanese or Chinese. Furthermore, the training encourages students to take a period abroad in the selected language area. Students develop specific knowledge, and vocational skills, cultural competence and they are introduced to new media.
