The study course “Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies” at Heidelberg University examines East Asian societies and explores their historical development, contemporary manifestations and regional interconnections. The goal of the program is to establish a practical connection between linguistic and cultural competencies. The duration of the major-50% is six semesters and is in German, and partly in English, Japanese or Chinese. The training includes a major component that focuses on China, Japan or East Asian art history and an additional component. Students acquire specific understanding and professional skills, cultural competence and perception of new media.
