The program “Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies” is devoted to the cultural exploration of East Asian societies and includes their historical development, contemporary manifestations, and regional interconnections. The program aims to provide a practical connection between linguistic and cultural competence. The major - 75% - is studied over six semesters, and the main language of instruction is German, followed by English, Japanese or Chinese. The course includes a core component that incorporates East Asian studies and a supplementary component. Students acquire language abilities, regionally specific competencies, subject-specific competence, cross-disciplinary skills and have the opportunity to study abroad depending on the selected language area.
