The “Bachelor of Arts in East European and East Central European Studies” at Heidelberg University teaches students to an interdisciplinary approach to the examination of the culture and history of the Slavic countries. The course provides solid knowledge and competencies in the fields of language, literature, history, and cultural studies. The minor-25% is six semesters long and conducted primarily in German and partly in Slavic languages. In addition, they have the opportunity to participate in an interdisciplinary study of the interconnections between Eastern and Central Europe, including the Russian, Polish, Czech, Serbo-Croatian and Bulgarian language regions. Students acquire fundamental research methods and theories of Slavic literature, linguistics and history.
