The major-75% course “Bachelor of Arts in East European and East Central European Studies” at Heidelberg University has a duration of six semesters and is in German and partially Slavic languages. The program teaches students in-depth the culture and history of the Slavic countries. It provides an in-depth knowledge of two Slavic languages and allows students to choose Eastern Europe and Central Europe as a first or second major.  Students acquire a broad understanding of Slavic languages and literature from medieval linguistic monuments to contemporary Eastern European societies. Graduates will have specialized knowledge in the areas of language, history, literature and culture.
