The “Master of Arts in Editorial Theory and Textual Criticism” program at Heidelberg University has a length of four semesters. This course familiarizes students with the practical aspects of source development and practice-oriented basic research in the literary traditions of medieval and modern Europe. During the program, lecturers and students establish a close working partnership, and they develop sources and conduct basic research. The course consists of three compulsory modules, five supplementary modules, and an internship in libraries, publishing houses, archives, museums. Students acquire fundamental skills and competencies in developing material documents, reading various scripts, manuscript descriptions, and textual representation.
