Description
The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Egyptology” at Heidelberg University encompasses the study of ancient Egyptian civilisation from the fifth millennium BCE. and ending with the Arab conquest of Egypt in 641 C.E. The -50% major is six semesters long and focuses on the field of philology. This course focuses on developing linguistic and subject-specific competence for understanding the writing, language, and culture of Ancient Egypt. The curriculum consists of modules, including Middle Egyptian, Pharaonic Culture, Different types of texts, Religion and Worldviews, Archaeology and History of Art and more. Students acquire knowledge in culture, history, archaeology, learn the hieroglyphic script and develop language skills.
