The consecutive program “Master of Arts in Greek/Classical Philology” at Heidelberg University is the education of Ancient Greek through the view of literary studies and linguistics. In addition, the culture of Ancient Greece is introduced to understand the historical texts. The period of the course is four semesters. The curriculum consists of advanced practical translation and language courses, seminars and lectures. Students acquire an in-depth understanding of the historical texts and develop various interpretive methods, both linguistic and theoretical. Finally, the program concludes with a masters’ thesis and an oral examination.
