The consecutive master program “Master of Arts in History” at Heidelberg University lasts four semesters. The course extends and strengthens the methodological and subject-specific knowledge and competencies obtained during the undergraduate program. The program is research-oriented and has a broad interdisciplinary focus that integrates traditional historical research competencies with new cultural and learning approaches. Students acquire the skills to independently conduct scientific and historical research grounded in critical evaluation of information and learn to work individually in areas that require skills in computer science or cultural studies. Finally, the course completes with writing and defending a master’s thesis.
