The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Italian/Romance Studies” at Heidelberg University concentrates on the Italian-speaking world, and more particularly, Italy and Ticino. The period of the program is six semesters and instructed in German and Italian. The syllabus includes the areas of Literary Studies, Linguistics, Cultural studies and Language practice. The curriculum incorporates the studies of the history of Italian literature, the genres epic, poetry and drama, literary studies and media, different approaches and models from literary theory, languages and dialects and more. Students in the minor-33% develop skills to speak and write fluently, understand complex contemporary texts and translate literary or journalistic texts into Italian.
