Description
The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Jewish Studies” at Heidelberg University is six semesters long. The program provides students with a wide range of introductions to Jewish religion, history and culture. In addition, the course examines the origins of Judaism, the history of the Jewish people, Jewish philosophy, art and literature. The sources studied may represent photographs, buildings or customs, all forms of sources from which information about Jewish culture can be derived. The major-75% course includes compulsory, elective and specialized modules. The syllabus incorporates the topics of philological, hermeneutical, and systematic. Students acquire an in-depth linguistic knowledge of Modern Hebrew and Biblical Hebrew that allows them to continue their studies in Israel.
