The program “Bachelor of Arts in Latin/Classical Philology” at Heidelberg University focuses on examining ancient Latin texts. Students acquire basic linguistic and grammatical knowledge and good translation skills. The duration of the minor-25% is six semesters and is in German and English. The course includes the three introductory courses Introduction to Classical Philology, Introduction to Literary Studies and Introduction to Linguistics, after which students can choose to specialize in Latin literature or Latin linguistics. Graduates of the course have practical skills in translating and writing Latin texts of moderate level of difficulty.
