Description
The program “Bachelor of Arts in Latin/Classical Philology” at Heidelberg University focuses on exploring ancient Latin texts. The major (50%) has a continuation of six semesters and is taught in German and English. The course includes the three introductory courses, Introduction to Classical Philology, Introduction to Literary Studies and Introduction to Linguistics, and afterwards, students can select to specialize in either Latin literature or Latin linguistics. Students acquire historical knowledge of the Latin language and literature and gain various theories and methods for effectively analyzing and interpreting texts. Graduates develop advanced skills in translating and writing Latin texts and can conduct in-depth research independently.
