The “Master of Arts in Latin/Classical Philology” course at Heidelberg University lasts four semesters and is taught in German and partly in English. The program concentrates on examining ancient Latin texts from antiquity. The course aims to provide students with a methodologically-based understanding of texts in Latin. The training includes advanced-level practical translation, language courses, seminars and lectures. Students build on the knowledge and competencies acquired in the Bachelor's degree and gain a thorough understanding of these texts and a diverse range of interpretive methods. Graduates learn to apply advanced scholarly methods and knowledge as well as to be able to perform independent work.
