Description
The program “Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Archaeology” at Heidelberg University traces history from human settlement to the stages of urbanization and the development of territorial states, and finally to the formation and demise of ancient Near Eastern empires. The duration of the training is six semesters and conducted in German and English. The minor (25%) has a modular structure and is composed of five modules. Students gain a fundamental knowledge of the culture in ancient Near Eastern, in settlement archaeology, architecture, art and craft. Furthermore, undergraduates participate in archaeological training excavations or practically-oriented practice classes that allow students to receive a basic understanding of archaeological field research.
