The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Political Science” at Heidelberg University teaches students the functioning of political institutions, the agencies and processes operating between state and society, the complexion of governance as a function of state policy, and international relations. The minor (25%) has a duration of six semesters and is in German and English. Students begin their study with an introductory module and can then choose three modules, such as Fundamentals of Political Theory, Fundamentals of the Political Systems in Germany and the EU and more. They are introduced to the basic methods of political concepts, terms, and theories of political science and the scientific fundamentals of three subfields of political science. Graduates can hold positions in the political sphere or find careers in research and teaching at universities and research institutes and other opportunities.
