The study course “Master of Arts in Religious Studies” at Heidelberg University studies the different religions in historical, cultural and societal contexts in both past and present. The program has a duration of four semesters and is taught in German and English. In the master, students gain broader and more profound insights into theories and methods and independently apply them to religious-historical studies and scenarios. They engage with sociopolitical questions as violence and religion, migration and integration, consequences of digitization for religions and other topics. Students write in the fourth semester a master’s thesis and the program concludes with an oral examination.
