The “Bachelor of Arts in Semitic Studies” course at Heidelberg University examines the Semitic languages from their first written testimonies to the modern day. The training with 25% weighting concentrates on the education of the Arabic language. The course includes six semesters and is taught in German and some other languages. The syllabus incorporates two introductory modules and an advanced one. The program offers students to select a major subject between Assyriology, Islamic studies and Ethnology. Students receive a broad and detailed education of the Arab-Islamic culture and have various methods and a foundation in the Arabic language.
