The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies” at Heidelberg University is six semesters long and instructed in German and Slavic languages. The minor-25% focuses on the languages and literature of the Slavic countries in their historical and cultural context. The curriculum includes an introductory phase, an intermediate phase and an advanced phase, with each phase covering three areas - language, linguistics and interdisciplinary skills. Students acquire the ability to critically analyse and interpret the origins of linguistic, literary and cultural processes in Slavic languages from a comparative historical and cultural perspective. Graduates hold an occupation such as writers, in universities, linguistics, journalism and communication.
