The program “Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies” at Heidelberg University runs over six semesters and is conducted in German and Slavic languages. The course examines the Slavic countries and their languages and literature. The major (75%) provides students with profound knowledge in language, literature, history, and cultural studies. The syllabus consists of an introductory phase, an intermediate phase, and an advanced phase, and each phase includes language, linguistics and cross-disciplinary skills. Students acquire the skills to critically analyse and interpret the origins of linguistic, literary and cultural processes in Slavic languages, as well as to review Slavic countries in their historical and cultural development from their historical past to the contemporary world.
