The study course “Bachelor of Arts in South Asian Studies” at Heidelberg University focuses on the geographical, social and economic aspects of South Asian culture alongside historical and philological aspects. The included states of study are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet and the Indian Himalayan region. The major-100% has a duration of six semesters and is in German, English, and possible South Asian languages. The curriculum consists of compulsory elements, a compulsory elective element, an additional compulsory elective element, an elective element, and the final includes generic competencies.
