The consecutive vocational teaching degree component program “Master of Education in Sport” at Heidelberg University has a length of four semesters. The program prepares students for a career as a sports teacher and includes the topics related to movement, play and sport, school sport, amateur sport, sport for excellence and sport for health. The course curriculum consists of five modules: Researching sports teaching, Planning sports lessons, Evaluating sports lessons, Developing a profile within Sports Science, and the final module includes a final examination and completion of a Masters thesis. Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in sport science and professional didactic abilities. On completion of the program, graduates are qualified to teach sports in a vocational school.
