The HfMT Hamburg, founded in 1959, is a public university of music and theater with round about 1,200 students. It is supported by the Behörde für Wissenschaft und Forschung (Ministry of Science and Research). Prospective students can choose from a wide range of artistic and scientific Bachelor and Master degree courses. The scope of Bachelor studies includes the study courses “Instrumental Music“ (B.Mus.), “Conducting“ (B.Mus.), “Church Music“ (B.Mus.), “Jazz“ (B.Mus.), “Composition/Theory“ (B.Mus.), “Voice“ (B.Mus.), “Acting“ (B.A.), “Direction: Music Theater“ (B.A.), “Direction: Acting“ (B.A.), “Teacher education (partial course “Music“)“ (B.A.), “Elementary Music Education“ (B.Mus.), “Instrumental Education“ (B.Mus.), and “Culture and Media Management in Distance Learning“ (B.A.).
