The unique in Europe program “Bachelor of Music in Conducting” at HfMT Hamburg runs over eight semesters. The course is based on five pillars: Concerts with professional orchestras, Concerts with the symphony orchestra of the HfMT and the Ensemble 13/14, Repertoire rehearsals with instrumental students of the HfMT Symphony Orchestra, Opera productions by the HFMT's opera department and Music Theater. The curriculum contains core modules, a Mediation module, a V2 Stringed Instruments module, Music Theory modules and Music Studies modules. Undergraduates acquire abilities such as aural perception of musical elements. Students can create simple orchestral pieces of different genres and styles and conduct them with an orchestra. The last exam the students have to cope with is the concert exam.
