The part-time program “Master of Arts in Music Therapy” at HfMT Hamburg has a duration of six semesters and offers and internships. Music therapy is a psychotherapeutic method to treat or alleviate mental, physical and social illnesses, as well as to help with psychological crises and stressful situations. The course concentrates primarily on psychodynamic and developmental orientation. The course curriculum contains Music Therapy Praxeology, Theoretical-Scientific Foundations, Basic medical-psychological knowledge and Medical-Psychological Deepening. Students acquire musical, communication and humanitarian skills. The admission requirement is for students to apply for a bachelor’s degree from the fields of music, psychology, medicine, pedagogy or social sciences.
