By definition, Midwifery is a branch of Medicine that deals with pregnancy, childbirth and infant care. Apart from concentrating on pregnancy, Midwifery also deals with women’s reproductive health. The purpose of a degree course in Midwifery is to effectively educate students, give them insight into the professional world of healthcare, as well as provide them with the necessary skills and competence to become a professional midwife.
