The degree program “Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering” with a duration of six semesters is offered at the Ilmenau University of Technology. This course is conducted in cooperation with FSU Jena, it is practice-oriented and is aimed to teach students the fundamentals of materials science, how to develop different materials and what is their production, processing, and application. The content of study includes theoretical lectures like Engineering Fundamentals, Chemical Fundamentals, Materials Science, and Materials Technology. Participants can also take part in an internship program for improving their knowledge, as well as strengthening their communication and soft skills. Career prospects for graduates are for example in Research and development departments of industry and state institutions, Medical and biomedical engineering, Microelectronics and microsystems technology, and many more.
