Offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, the program “Bachelor of Arts in American Studies/Anglais” is with a six-semester standard period of study. Consisting of the specific sub-areas American Studies, Culture Studies and English Linguistics the degree program provides the opportunity to acquire literary, linguistic and regional knowledge in two university systems, to deepen it and to reflect on the respective point of view. The prospective students obtain basic knowledge in their home country and have the option of integrating a stay in Canada in during the fifth semester in order to deepen their linguistic skills and technical knowledge in the Anglophone environment  by also dealing with specific Canadian research interests.
