The six-semester degree program “Bachelor of Arts in American Studies” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. It is aimed at students interested in languages, literature, cultures and the history of North America. Entirely English-taught, the interdisciplinary program deals particularly with the American literature, culture, history, social politics, and politics while deepening competences such as critical analysis of texts, written and oral presentation of complex issues in English, critical thinking and differentiated argumentation, understanding of cultural values and traditions, understanding of American self-perception, knowledge of the Importance of religion and religious communities for the American community, knowledge of the US political system and more.
