Provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, the program “Master of Arts in American Studies” is with a total length of four semesters. It is literary and cultural studies-oriented and provides an in-depth knowledge of the various manifestations of American society in the respective literary, historical, political and cultural contexts with a possible specialization in the various research fields of Early American Studies and New North American Studies. During the course, the graduates have the opportunity to research the tradition and diversification of Anglophone literatures, cultures and languages while also exploring history, film, theater studies, ethnology, sociology and more. The aim is to supplement and expand the desired research perspective in specific areas of American Studies with a broad and transdisciplinary range of teaching and research.
