With a total length of four semesters, the course “Master of Arts in Art History/Histoire de l’art” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The degree program provides to the students a comprehensive range of opportunities to study both the history and theory of the fine and applied arts, architecture in all their temporal and methodological depth. Specifically designed to span multiple epochs the degree course includes methodically oriented modules, topics from late antiquity to the present as well as classic genres of architecture, painting, graphics, sculpture and handicrafts, photography, the new media of film, video and comics as well as non-imaging artistic practices of art historical research.
