Provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz the course “Master of Arts in Book Studies” is with a total length of four semesters. The research-oriented program imparts the ability to evaluate the function of the book in a social and media context with the knowledge of book market structures as well as the critical analysis of the factors in book market development, taking into account the historical conditions. The program teaches to independently perform analyses of problem situations in the fields of publishing and publishing management and to be able to develop solutions in order to master the know-how to design and implement creative concepts in the area of literary culture.
