“Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Theology” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a total length of six semesters. It aims to make a contribution to solving religion-sensitive questions of the future by combining it with another core or minor subject for a wide range of study and professional fields. The course promotes the systematic development of basic religious knowledge as well as the development of an appreciative attitude towards religious orientations and ways of life. By imparting subject-specific skills in Catholic theology, the bachelor degree also provides basic knowledge of cultural studies, philosophy and ethics that contributes to the understanding of social and cultural issues while focusing on a broad spectrum of other Christian denominations and non-Christian religions and cultures beyond Catholic Christianity and Western culture.
