With a duration of six semesters, the degree program “Bachelor of Education in Chemistry” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. By including a second teaching subject, Educational Sciences as well as compulsory teaching experience in schools the graduates are taught to give lessons in chemistry in a competent and clear manner in lessons based on the fundamental theoretical principles of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. During their study, the participants also attend lessons on teaching methods and approaches with special training on the practical implementation and application of the methods during teaching experience in schools.
