The joint degree master’s course “Master of Arts in Children's and Young People's Literature/Book Studies” is with a duration of four semesters provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The program imparts knowledge on current and historical research questions in the field of children's and youth media. The focus is particularly on the scientific examination of the cultural and economic meanings of children's and youth media, in the interplay of literary, cultural, book and other media studies issues. Graduates obtain in-depth comprehension in history, literary, book and cultural studies research approaches in the field of children's and youth literature in an international context along with the examination of literary, book and cultural theories, methods including childhood, youth, gender and generational discourses.
