Description
Provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz the two-subject study program “Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature/European Literature” is with a total length of six semesters. The interdisciplinary literary studies course in which the subjects General and Comparative Literature, English, German, Romance and Slavic Philology as well as the French discipline Lettres Modernes are involved. The program explores the historically founded connection between the literatures of Europe with the common reference to antiquity and the Renaissance, in an overarching repertoire of forms, genres, processes, themes, motifs as well as in numerous exchange and reception processes. The aim of the course is to create awareness for the diversity and context of European literature along with the cultural foundations of the economic and political unification process of recent history are conveyed through the study of European literature.
