Provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, the two-subject study course “Master of Arts in Comparative Literature/Lettres modernes” is with a duration of four semesters. The degree program covers the entire spectrum of intra-literary relationships, the intercultural dimension of literature and the relationships between literature as well as other media and arts. Throughout the course, the literature from different languages and cultures is viewed from a cross-cultural standpoint in order to transcends the boundaries of national philologies and is also associated with aesthetic phenomena in other arts, media and significantly expands the subject of research up to the world literature.
