The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a duration of six semesters. By primarily focusing on the legal basis for the upbringing, rehabilitation and treatment of offenders in addition to a general orientation on the functioning of the criminal justice system, based on the law of criminal procedure the additional subject of the course primarily conveys how the criminal justice system relies on empirical, in particular criminological, expertise in the imposition and enforcement of criminal sanctions and other measures.The bachelor degree covers the content of criminal procedural law while imparting important methodological skills, juvenile criminal law, sanctions law, the basics of criminology, legal history as well as legal philosophical foundations and more.
