The six-semester degree program “Bachelor of Education in English” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The modularized and practice-oriented course qualifies graduates for a postgraduate master’s course and includes job-related internships and educational components. An integral part of the teacher training course is a study visit of at least three months in an English-speaking country, which enables students to better understand the cultural and social processes in their complexity and interaction when encountering other cultures. The modules include introduction to linguistics, literary studies and foreign language didactics, the methods and theories of literary, linguistic and regional studies, practical language studies and more.
