Description
The study course “Master of Arts in Ethnology of the Global” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a total length of four semesters. The program provides a research-oriented training in ethnology and deals with the diversity of human ways of life and examines while also analyzing their similarities and differences. The degree program is internationally oriented and prepares students for academic and science-related professional fields as well as for higher-qualified professional activities in general. The course combines a broad, theoretically reflective examination of subject areas, theories and methods of ethnology at an advanced level with a research project in which the students deal with a topic and a region, plan and carry out a research stay and process the data obtained, analyze, interpret and present with a wide range of topics from political, religious and economic ethnology to ethnology and development, ethnicity and colonialism to media ethnology, migration and diaspora research and African literatures, Music and Popular Culture.
